How Rug Radar works

Rug Radar is a free security scanner for Solana tokens. It pulls live data from the chain and from public security APIs, runs ten checks, and shows you the evidence behind every result so you can make your own call.

What happens when you scan

  1. Your browser validates the address (base58, 32 bytes) and sends it to the Rug Radar backend.
  2. The backend queries Solana RPC, DexScreener and RugCheck in parallel, each with its own timeout.
  3. Results are combined into ten checks, each marked PASS, WARNING, DANGER or UNKNOWN, and a transparent 0–100 risk score.
  4. If one provider fails, the rest of the scan still runs and you’ll see exactly which data is missing.

Data providers

Solana mainnet RPC

Reads the mint account directly from the chain: supply, decimals, mint and freeze authorities, the token program and every Token-2022 extension. Also reads the creator wallet’s SOL balance and recent transactions.

Limitations: The free public endpoint rate-limits heavy queries such as largest holders. Rug Radar falls back to RugCheck when that happens, and supports a private RPC via a server-side setting.

DexScreener

Live price, market cap, FDV, liquidity, 24h volume, buy/sell counts, price changes and every trading pair. Also powers the trending list.

Limitations: Public API limited to roughly 300 requests per minute. Only pairs DexScreener indexes are shown; brand-new pools can take a minute to appear.

RugCheck

Top holders with pool and locker labels, creator wallet, LP lock/burn percentages per market, metadata mutability, insider-network detection and RugCheck’s own risk flags.

Limitations: Free public endpoint with rate limits. When it is unavailable, checks that depend on it are reported as UNKNOWN rather than guessed.

What Rug Radar can’t do

  • Predict the future. A developer can still dump, abandon the project or market it dishonestly.
  • See off-chain promises, team identities or social-media manipulation.
  • Simulate a sell. Honeypot behaviour is inferred from trading patterns and token extensions, not from executing a trade.
  • Guarantee accuracy. Third-party APIs can be delayed, incomplete or wrong.

Privacy

No account, no wallet connection, no tracking. Your recent scans are saved only in your own browser’s local storage and you can clear them at any time.

Disclaimer

Rug Radar is an informational tool, not financial advice. A low risk score does not mean a token is safe, and no scanner can guarantee that a token will not rug. Always do your own research and only risk what you can afford to lose.
